Did you know that when it’s COLD, that is the best time to EXERCISE to burn fat?
Why is that? …well it’s simple really.
When the weather is cold our bodies expend a lot of energy in order to STAY WARM!
A large portion of the food (and therefore calories) we eat is used to fuel a constant body temperature.
HOMEOSTATIS keeps the body temperature pretty much constant. SHIVERING helps to warm up our internal organs so they function properly. VASOCONSTRICTION, where the veins move further from the surface of the skin, so less heat is lost from the body in this way. HAIRS stand on end to insulate the body.
All this takes energy which is converted to HEAT ENERGY.
Hence it is also good to EXERCISE when it get’s COLD.
We just passed the Winter Solstice, the SHORTEST DAY of the year! YAY!
But it will get COLDER before it gets WARMER in a couple of months.
So NOW is when you can spend your time most effeciently to LOSEWEIGHT and BURN CALORIES.
So GRAB a light jacket and COME and JOIN us on Monday night 6:30PM at Flagstaff Hill Primary School Gym. We will BURN CALORIES and have a HOT SWEATFEST in no time at all!
